February is Black Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and experiences of Black Canadians. Throughout the month, students will learn about important Black leaders, role models, and changemakers who have helped shape our communities and country.
These learning opportunities help students understand and appreciate diversity, while promoting the values of equity, inclusion, and belonging within our school community. Through classroom activities, discussions, and school-wide events, students will explore ideas about fairness, respect, and understanding different cultures and experiences.
Black Heritage Month also provides a chance for meaningful conversations about kindness, justice, and standing up for one another, helping our students grow in empathy and strengthen our sense of community.
