Terry Fox Walk, Roll, and Run

This year marks the 43rd Annual Marathon of Hope. Terry Fox was an example of courage, humility, determination, and perseverance. From a young age he exemplified these attributes that made him an inspiration for not only Canada, but the entire world. This year’s Terry Fox theme is ‘Try Like Terry’. In keeping with Terry Fox’s Mission to advance critical research to end cancer,  the students of St. Joseph the Worker will be participating in the Terry Fox Walk on Thursday, September 21, to help raise funds for cancer research.

Many members of our school community have been directly and/or indirectly affected by cancer including Frank Iannuzzi, a veteran teacher on the St. Joseph the Worker staff, who passed away on April 10, 2013.  Frank Iannuzzi was a caring, dedicated and respected staff member, who strived to meet the needs of all the students in his care. The Terry Fox Walk can serve as a personal dedication to a relative or a friend, as well as providing necessary funding for cancer research.

The Terry Fox Walk will take place on Thursday, September 21.  Please note that in case of inclement weather, the walk will be postponed to Monday, September 25th.

Any and all donation amounts are greatly appreciated. Please note that students who are unable to obtain donations will be able to participate in the event.  We kindly ask you to please visit: https://schools.terryfox.ca/StJosephtheWorkerThornhill .  The site is secure and receipts can be printed immediately after completing your donation. Your donation will be counted towards the school’s total donation amount. Tax receipts will be issued automatically for donations.  Please be assured that student names are kept confidential and will not be shared.

We are pleased to participate in this event, which encourages students to develop a sense of volunteerism and goodwill while celebrating school spirit.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

The Terry Fox Committee
